NOW... before it's too late. Before our Parkland is gone.
Before our History is gone. We've already lost 2 landmarks.
Our cemetery is under attack as is our Main Street. We must
protect
our James B Manor 1850 Homestead. That's our Alamo.
Un alcalde gigante que necesitamos ahora.
At the right is James Manor's Obelisk. He died in 1881. The
Manor Cemetery is Dedicated 1871. Eggleston Townes was
buried here in 1861. Council approved townhomes on top of
black graves at 1906 McVey Cemetery 100' west of here.

ROBERT BATTAILE (Battle) will Save Our Historic Manor and balance "growth" with "quality of life." Let's be honest folks, Manor is NOT the "regional leader with exceptional services" that our current Mayor, City Council members and Staff pretend bears some resemblance to what I call "OBJECTIVE REALITY." We have $99 MILLION in the bank and "they" can't even put in a DOG RUN, let alone a drinking fountain or a couple of concrete ping pong tables. We have $1.4 million available for parks; yet ALL of OUR PARKS are EMPTY? Why?
Mayor, Harvey signed a "Proclamation" about Parks and Recreation Month, but guess what ~ we don't even HAVE a PARKS & RECREATION Department. I will change that within my first month. And, I know who I want to lead it.
Here's a Link to Robert's Master Parks Plan.
How Many Years have Good People been kept off the Ballot?
Robert and Bobby alleged in their Police Report 24-01385 given at the ManorPD Double-wide on 8/28 that the City Manager and the City Secretary acted together to PREVENT 22-yr Army Vet from running for Place Three on the ballot. Why has their still been NO response as of 9/25/2024.
Click Photo to see the nightmare that we DON'T WANT.
Our staff pushed a $318,000 Comprehensive Plan down our throats. City Council didn't have the Wisdom or the Backbone to stand up to them. We lost lost two beautiful heirloom buildings... the barbershop and 104 E Townes. As Mayor, Robert will create the "Manor Preservation Commission" and protect the large AND small ones.
The Martin McVey Cemetery was here in 1906. Newly re-discovered with Wayne Schneider and Danny Scarbrough's help. I think this was the "black" cemetery until 1913.
The evidence of graves, plus the deed is obvious. Why won't the Council or Staff or Texas Historical Commission or Travis County Commissioners put a HALT to the 95 townhomes going in here? Why?
This is our "Alamo" and we MUST Protect It.
As Mayor, I will do that. I think Pete Dwyer/La Entradas LLC will work with us. I hope so. If they don't want to give it to the city; we will pay a fair price. If not, we will take it by Eminent Domain. City Councils AND city staff haven't DONE SQUAT to protect this or educate or inspire us. James B Manor is a "Forgotten Man" in his own town. More.
This is the first reproduction of this powerful image from her Museum in Maryland.
More.
Manor came west from Tennessee with Sam Houston in 1832. That's our story.
I meet people EVERY DAY that have lived here their ENTIRE LIFE... 30 - 40 - 60 years. They went to ManorISD yet they NEVER KNEW there was a person named James Manor. How do you explain that? Current Mayor Harvey claims to be an "educator" but the Manor History page on our website DOESN'T EVEN MENTION HIM. How come?
An Art Museum, City Hall, Performing Arts Center, Plaza, Pool, Sports Fields... etc.
The "Old Downtown" isn't even big enough FOR THE PARKING LOT of a Performing Arts Center, that needs to be beside the Art Museum, the Natural History Musem, City Hall and a Rec Center surrounding a beautiful PLAZA with statues and fountains . WE HAVE to grab the LAND NOW. We can't wait until it's all subdivisions and apartments from Elgin to Austin. That's what the current "padrones" that control our city want. They couldn't care less if we have ANY parkland when they're finished with their GREEDY PLANS and endless developer "giveaways." More.
605-pages that "they" can't even PROOFREAD. Full of lies and BS. The "Dashboards" were created with NO CITIZEN INPUT. More.
Our braniac council spent $318,000 on this "Comprehensive (BOGUS) Plan" that was supposed to tell us how to do "stuff" to make our city "GRRRREAT" (like Tony the Tiger says). They gave ALL THE MONEY UP FRONT. Would YOU do that? Duh, no.i Counci has admitted they can't even read the entire document, let alone proofread it or take out the lies and obvious BS. On DAY ONE, I will terminate it. It's "dashboards" design by consultants that I call "Freese and Nuckleheads" created "dashboards" that give Old Manor's single family homes "one dot" while three-story liv-work-play 3-story boxes get FIVE DOTS. To add insult to injury they call Lexington and Parson Streets "commercial corridors." Why would we want "commercial corridors" with big rigs and tanker trucks in an historic neighborhood? When I point this out to our beanhead planners and consultants they say, "where's your credentials Robert?" Just for fun, I sometimes put a Bf.D. after my name. I went to RICE UNIVERSITY on a full scholarship ~ nobody gets to impune my brainpower, artistic creativity or honorable commitment. You wouldn't trust those people to change a lightbulb in your house. Why would you trust them with $200+ million of BORROWED MONEY? Borrowed on "your dime." The City Council got hypnotized by the BOND-SELLERS, with the help of the staff.
City Council has been doing whatever staff says... for years.
I like the "worker bees" and they like me. When I say the Council is "not up to the job," it's not because "they're black or brown" ... it's because they're not up to the job. Robert knows the difference between motion and action.
On day ONE, I will ask for the resignations of the City Manager, Leslie Moore ~ City Secretary, Lluvia Almaraz ~ Planning Services Director, Scott Dunlop (just kidding, he was smart and left early as I advised all of them to do) ~ Economic Development Director, Scott Jones ~ Public Works Director, Matt Woodard ~ Tourism and Heritage Manager, Yalondra Santana ~ We need to clean house. Call it "creative differences." I wish them the best in their new jobs in other cities.
